The use of a 5.0 GHz network is highly recommended for all robots. Using this frequency ensures a clearer, more stable connection compared to the standard 2.4 GHz band.
Why 5.0 GHz?
- Less congestion: While 2.4 GHz has only 3 non-overlapping channels (1, 6, 11), the rest overlap and can cause interference. 5.0 GHz WiFi offers 23 non-overlapping channels.
- Reduced interference: 2.4 GHz is crowded with signals from Bluetooth devices, microwaves, cordless phones, and other routers, which causes packet loss.
- Higher performance: More available channels mean fewer packet collisions and a more reliable eye-to-eye connection.
