This guide explains how to use and navigate the robot User Interface (UI) to configure your robot settings.
Access the robot main menu
To access the interface, connect a USB keyboard to your robot. The port location depends on your robot model:
Navigation shortcuts:
- Arrow keys: Navigate menus.
- Enter: Select an option.
- Esc: Go back.
- Ctrl+Shift+N: Show network adapter statistics.
- Ctrl+Shift+A: Reveal advanced options (available on specific screens).
Setup wizard
The Setup wizard launches automatically during the first use or after a factory restore. Follow the prompts to:
- Select your language.
- Connect to a WiFi network.
Once complete, we will direct you to the Device settings menu.
Device settings menu
The Device settings menu is your central hub for configuration:
- WiFi setup: Connect to and manage wireless networks.
- Options: Adjust network behavior, sound, and language.
- Tools: Run diagnostics or perform a factory restore.
- About: View robot name, serial ID, and software version.
WiFi setup
The WiFi setup screen displays available networks. We recommend using a 5GHz network whenever available for optimal performance.
Connection types and options
Select a network to view its configuration fields. Use Ctrl+Shift+A for advanced settings.
- Open: Requires only the SSID and checking the Enabled box.
- WEP 40/128-bit: Requires SSID, Enabled, and the network Password.

WPA/WPA2 Personal: Requires SSID, Enabled, and Password.
- Advanced: Select specific WPA Versions or Pairwise/Group ciphers (TKIP, AES/CCMP).

WPA/WPA2 Enterprise: Used for 802.1X/EAP authentication.
- Authentication: Select TLS, TTLS, or PEAP.
- Certificates: Import .PEM Base64 encoded certificates via USB. Fields include CA Certificate, Client Certificate, and Private Key.

Captive portal: Used for networks requiring a web login (e.g., hotels).
- You must tether a "helper device" (phone or laptop) to the robot to clear the login page.
- Tether via Bluetooth or WiFi.
Options
Manage how your robot interacts with the environment and network.
Network options
- Frequency bands: Limit connections to 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, or both.

Scan type: Choose between Active Broadcast, Active Directed (for hidden SSIDs), or Passive.
- Roaming (Single adapter): Set to Auto to allow the robot to switch access points (APs) during a call to maintain signal strength.
Sound options
Manage system volume and alerts.
System language
Change the UI display language.
Tools
The Tools menu provides utilities for troubleshooting and maintenance.
Diagnostic tools
- DHCP ping (wlan0/wlan1): Test how long it takes to receive an IP address.
- STUN test: Check if the network allows calls. All relays should return the same IP and port.
- WiFi verification log: View a history of connection attempts and responses.
- System errors: Review logs for hardware or software issues.
Factory restore
Note: This will erase all network credentials and return all settings to their default values.
Power
- Awabot One: Provides Shut down and Restart options.
- Awabot Pro: Use the physical power button to turn the robot on or off.
About
Review the System info for support and identification:
- Robot name & serial number: Unique identifiers for your unit.
- MAC addresses: Required for network whitelisting.
- Software version: Current build and build time.
- Last server update: The last time the robot synced with our infrastructure.
