This guide outlines the safety protocols and security measures for operating a robot to ensure a secure experience for both the pilot and those in the local environment.
How to safely operate a robot
We recommend watching the Awabot safety and operation video before your first use. Follow these essential safety tips:
- Drive slowly: Always maintain a slow speed when moving around other people.
- Stay focused: Never drive while distracted or if any camera views are obstructed.
- Maintain audio: Keep your local audio unmuted and the speaker volume audible to ensure locals are aware of your presence.
- Avoid hazards: Stay away from stairs, steep ramps, curbs, or any area where the robot could lose balance.
- Watch the base: Never operate the robot if someone has their hands near the wheels or the base.
Security and privacy
We prioritize your privacy and use industry-standard protocols to protect your data.
Is robot secure?
Yes. Currently, there is no known way for unauthorized parties to eavesdrop on conversations.
- Call traffic: Encrypted using AES-256 and authenticated via HMAC-SHA1.
- Configuration data: Secured using TLS.
Note: We cannot control or limit the use of external recording software or hardware used by third parties during a call.
Can anyone listen in or record me?
No. Calls are encrypted and decrypted at the endpoints. No one, including employees at Awabot, can view or hear your calls.
- Support data: Usage statistics and diagnostic data are only accessible to a limited group of authorized support and engineering staff.
Physical safety and liability
The robot is designed for use in populated environments and includes features to minimize risk to people and property.
Collision prevention
While pilots must always exercise caution, we offer additional safety tools:
- Assisted driving LiDAR: An optional add-on for Awabot Pro robot. This laser sensor automatically adjusts the robot’s speed based on its surroundings to prevent collisions.
