If your Awabot One robot has been disconnected from power for three months or longer, the battery may have sulfated. Before replacing hardware, follow these steps to attempt to recover your robot.
Preliminary troubleshooting
- Clean the contacts: Use rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab to clean dust or debris from the charging contacts on both the robot and the dock.
- Hard reset the head: Press and hold the power button on the side of the head for 6 seconds. Wait 5 minutes for the robot to reboot.
- Check dock voltage: Use a multimeter to verify the docking station contacts are producing 19-20V.
If the dock is not producing 19-20V
- Reseat cables: Disconnect and reconnect the power cable at the dock and the wall outlet.
- Change locations: Try a different power outlet or move the dock to a new location.
- Test hardware: Test the power cable with another robot or replace it entirely.
Note: Place the dock on a level floor and avoid carpeted areas.
If the dock is producing 19-20V
- Reset the board: Perform a motor controller board reset.
- Extended charge: Leave the robot on a functional charging dock for 48 hours.
