A blinking red light at the base of your Awabot One robot indicates a low or depleted battery. If your robot has been disconnected from power for more than three months, the battery may be sulfated and require replacement. Follow these steps to attempt a recovery before purchasing a new battery.
Preliminary troubleshooting
- Clean the contacts: Use rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab to clean dust or debris from the charging contacts on both the robot and the dock.
- Hard reset the head: Press and hold the power button on the side of the head for 6 seconds. Wait 5 minutes for the robot to reboot.
- Check dock voltage: Use a multimeter to verify the docking station contacts are producing 19-20V.
If the dock is not producing 19-20V
- Reseat cables: Disconnect and reconnect the power cable at the dock and the wall outlet.
- Change locations: Try a different power outlet or move the dock to a new location.
- Test hardware: Test the power cable with another robot or replace it entirely.
Note: Place the dock on a level floor and avoid carpeted areas.
If the dock is producing 19-20V
- Reset the motor controller board: Perform a motor controller board reset.
- Extended charge: Leave the robot on a functional charging dock for 48 hours.
